When it comes to sports, specialization is the thing. In baseball, there now is a relief pitcher for every situation, as one hurler is supposed to "hold," while another is deemed the "set-up" man, and still a third is paid big bucks to "close." In hockey, there is a scoring line (for offense), a checking line (for defense), and what euphemistically is called an energy line (which provides the rough stuff to jump-start the team when the other two lines aren't doing their jobs).
