The Rocky Mountain region's premier healthcare and research facility for children is moving to Fitzsimons, a further boost to the synergy at the new health and science campus. Children's Hospital announced recently that it will build a 270-bed hospital and healthcare center at Fitzsimons. Construction on the $400 million, 900,000 square-foot facility will begin in 2003, with completion slated for 2006.

This will enable us to provide the best healthcare outcome for children," said Dr. Don Biester, Children's president and chief executive officer.

Biester said the hospital and its leadership are excited about the opportunity to take a "green field approach" at one of the nation's 'most exciting biomedical campuses." In essence, Children's Hospital will be able to take 37 acres of currently undeveloped land and design an incomparable state-of-the-art facility to serve the needs of children throughout the region.

"We will be able to create the best facilities to foster a healthy environment for our patients, their families and our staff," said Biester.
