The Government Relations Committee is instrumental in advocating and promoting the CPA profession in the public policy arena. By reviewing stale legislation and regulations that could affect the CPA profession, and determining an appropriate Ca1CPA action, the committee has assisted in fending off many proposals that would have negatively affected the CPA profession in California. Recent examples include retroactive taxation issues, sales tax on services, onerous municipal audit regulations, income tax appeals changes and additional registration requirements for taxpayer advocates.

The committee advocates for the enactment of legislation and initiates the introduction of legislation and regulations to advance CalCPA policy approved by CalCPA Council.
