The 2014 TEI Region VII Conference was held June 25 to 29 at the beautiful Westin Hilton Head Resort. The conference was well attended by over 100 members, including not only those from the chapters that make up Region VII, but also from as far as Dallas, Houston, New England, and New Jersey.

The conference featured great technical sessions--including national speakers such as Eric Solomon, Handy Hevener, Mike Dolan, Patti Burquest, Glenn Carrington, and many many others. Over 17 hours of CPE was available to members. The conference also featured a session on Ethics for Corporate Tax Departments moderated by Timothy McCormally (KPMG) and Matt Lerner (Sidley & Austin) that was well received and needed by many members for license purposes.

The Conference also had a surprise moment, when as part of the Prize Drawings, Mitch Trager, was surprised by Robert Howren (TEI Treasurer), Walter Doggett (TEI Region VII VP) and Marcus Shore (Former TEI Region VII VP), with a newly created Regional Meritorious Service Award. Mitch has chaired these meetings for over 15 years, and the group felt that this award would entice him to continue organizing them - Mitch agreed at least for 2015.
