As the article "Che: The Man Behind the Myth" notes, a million Cubans have fled to the United States since Fide[ Castro seized power in 1959. In fact, Cuba has been the largest single source of refugees in the U.S. since World War II.

But as this graph shows, Cuba is only one of many sources of refugees--which the U.S. defines as people who have a "well-founded fear of persecution" in their homeland.
