Vancouver, Toronto-based Ernex Marketing Technologies, a subsidiary of RBC Financial Group, has introduced a new rewards management program that permits credit-card issuers and large membership organizations to offer their customers real-time point redemption.

The pilot program, which began in February, had about 5,500 holders of Royal Bank Visa Classic II cards in four Ontario cities. During the five-month test period, cardholders could redeem their points at 12 participating Home Hardware stores and at 13 Radio Shack Canada stores. The bank receives ongoing analytical reports on the progress of the program.
