Infosys plans to invest $8.7 million and create 2,000 jobs over five years in Wake County, including 500 within the next two years. The project is expected to provide a $2.9 billion boost to the state's economy, according to the N.C. Department of Commerce. Jobs will include software developers, analysts and others. The Bangalore, India-based company has said it plans to hire 10,000 workers and create four technology and innovation hubs in the U.S.--the first city chosen was Indianapolis, in May. The company could receive state grants totaling $22.4 million if it meets hiring and investment goals.
