So many times, when there is an error in communication--a meeting gets missed, a calendar invite goes unaccepted, a task never gets accomplished--it can be traced back to one regretful cause: someone didn't read all the way through the email.

You know the email I'm talking about: the one that details exactly where you're supposed to meet, at exactly what time, and exactly what you need to do to prepare. We've all received that email, and we've all ignored it. We put the date on our calendar and saved the other details for later.

But somewhere in our attempt to get to inbox zero, abstractly breezing through our emails without contemplating any of them, we miss the whole point of email altogether: to communicate with one another. In a direct and concise manner.

I always joke that I'm a writer because I find speaking to be a liability. Who knows what I'll blurt out in the moment. Writing, on the other hand, is much more thought out. If I've penned it down on paper...
