Thanks for speaking about the Gallagher Amendment, the worst piece of constitutional meddling we have had since Prohibition (Robert Schwab's Web-exclusive column, "Killing dragons, like fixing taxes, takes courage," www.cobizmag.com). Such issues should be statutory, not constitutional, because in this case we get locked into results that turned disastrous 20 years later with no practical way to fix it.

For a time I was the poster child (for being) against the burdensome commercial-property taxes, which have risen 400 percent since Gallagher was enacted--but to no avail. Our taxes at Rockmount (Ranch Wear) just went up 33...
