Milwaukee may be a "heartland city," and it no doubt has more than its share of "rust-belt poverty," but it is shocking to read in The Progressive a disparaging description of its "placid, 1950s fondness for the status quo" ("Paid Sick Leave Pays Off," by Barbara Miner, May issue). Milwaukee belongs to the same lengthy, radical tradition that spawned, among other things, The Progressive itself.
