Q. What led you to bank marketing?

I have been at the bank for 22 years and during that time, I have worked in all areas. In 2000, I was in branch operations and as part of my duties I handled sales training and campaigns. In 2005, we separated branch operations from marketing and formed a marketing department. I am now the director of marketing and human resources, which we believe is a very beneficial combination.

Q. What do you consider to be your area of greatest marketing expertise?

Developing a very successful sales and service culture and strategies for motivating employees. I have been honored to speak about our successes around the country at state and national marketing conferences.

Q. What was one of your biggest marketing successes?

I have two great successes I would like to share. In 2005, I created an employee sales campaign that brought in $65 million in new deposit money. In 2008, the bank ended its year with 48 percent more net income than its previous year.

Q. What was one of your biggest marketing mistakes?

Trying to please everyone and getting too many people involved with making a decision. However, sometimes company protocol calls for it. It can slow down a process drastically when too many people are involved beyond a certain stage. I believe in involving everyone in marketing, but not in the decision process.

Q. In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge marketers will face in the year ahead?

Transforming marketing into a leadership area that can help guide the bank to great success.
