Provo Bakery offers a taste of autumn.

Provo -- If changing foliage is the visible hallmark of the fall, then surely pumpkin spice is the taste of the season. PROVO BAKERY is a local institution, having been in business for over 25 years, and for the past 12 they've tapped into the taste of fall with their legendary pumpkin spice donuts.

"It's one of the most popular holiday items we have. With social media they've gained even more popularity," said Caitlan Gray, general manager at the bakery and daughter of the current owner. "Typically, we've only done them mid-September through the end of October, and last year we had so many people request them through Christmas, so we just kept making them."

Twelve years ago Mark Tuckett, current owner and baker, bought the bakery and brought his own stock of recipes while keeping the traditional favorites like the orange rolls, raspberry rolls and sugar cookies. Adding to the roster of classics, Tuckett started to make the pumpkin spice donuts.

"Spring and fall have a magical feel in the air, and pumpkin captures that," said Gray. "I think that's what makes us different--we are a from-scratch bakery, but we do offer prices that are comparable to people that just do frozen goods."
