Property tax collections throughout the United States are expected to reach a record high of $232 billion in 1999, surpassing 1998's high of $230 billion. Experts predict that approximately 95 percent of that amount ($221 billion) actually will be collected. Of the total amount, local governments will collect the vast majority ar $220.7 million.
