I liked the article "Executioner's New Song," by Justine Sharrock (March issue), and I admire the outspoken Jeanne Woodford.

But what does Elaine Leeder, dean of Sonoma State's School of Social Sciences, mean by saying that Woodford "isn't a bleeding heart do-gooder"? I am opposed to the death penalty, and I have never worked in the so-called corrections industry. So, is Leeder describing me?

It was great to read the profile of former San Quentin warden turned death penalty opponent Jeanne Woodford. But it seemed odd that it was never mentioned that Woodford is currently working tirelessly to support a California ballot measure, the SAFE California Act, which will replace the death penalty with a sentence of life...
