Elder Hotline Brings Legal Help to Rural Kansans

Did you know that 26 counties in Kansas are considered legal deserts, meaning they have three or fewer attorneys in practice? Luckily, our legal community has an option to help Kansans who live in those counties and across the state.

The Elder Hotline, available by calling 888-535-5337, is a program of Kansas Legal Services and connects Kansans over the age of 60 who have legal questions with private attorneys who volunteer their time. The service is free and has no income eligibility requirements.

When a person calls the elder hotline number, an intake specialist takes their information and connects them to an available volunteer attorney.
