The AICPA and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants have issued the AICPA/CICA Privacy Framework, including the AICPA/CICA Trust Services Privacy Principle and Criteria. The AICPA/CICA Privacy Framework provides criteria and related material for protecting the privacy of personal information. It serves as an excellent tool for CPAs to use when providing guidance on privacy programs. The framework incorporates concepts from significant domestic and international privacy laws, regulations and guidelines. It is the intellectual capital and body of knowledge that provides the foundation for CPA-related privacy efforts.
