WHETHER YOU SKI OR SNOWBOARD, support or despise the proposed Little Cottonwood Canyon gondola or heeded Gov. Cox's urges to "pray for rain," there is one banner that most Utahns can unite under: the desire to enjoy a winter full of powder turns on the mountain.

This season, after years of dismal snowpack and historically low water levels, great news has descended upon Utah--and its billion-dollar ski industry--in the form of record-breaking snowfall. At the time of this writing in late January, statewide snowpack is at nearly 200 percent of normal, resulting in the best winter Utah has seen in almost 20 years. Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude hold four out of the top five spots for resorts sporting the most snowfall in the nation. In November, Deer Valley Resort won the title of Best Ski Resort in the United States from the World Ski Awards for the 10th straight year.

This data proves that Utah could be home to "The Greatest Ski Resorts on Earth" in addition to "The Greatest Snow on Earth." And while that claim may be up for...
