On May 6, 2022, Anthony Ostlund Louwagie Dressen Boylan P.A. won a $70.5 million verdict/award in Minneapolis for Jim Koch against Koch Companies, Koch Industries, Randy Koch, and Dave Koch. Plus attorney fees.

The award of $70.5 million plus fees, including the $58.5 million stock buy-out award, is believed to be the highest ever awarded under the Minnesota Business Corporation Act, 302A, et seq.

Randy Gullickson was on the team. He said modestly, "It was an interesting case. It took a long time, and we were happy with the result."

That understated position may be the result of a long time working on such closely held companies, or, as Gullickson calls the practice, "corporate divorces." With companies, "as in any human endeavor, disputes result. Often it ends with a separation where one or more shareholders get bought out," he said.

Gullickson's background allows him to present the case for a fair buyout amount cogently. In Koch, that included all the valuation for three businesses, plus real estate, and experts on both sides.
