Following the filing of the PCT application, a number of events, pro-
cedures, and options are available. Chapter 3 examined the selection of
the international searching authority, the international search report
(ISR), and the written opinion (WO) of the international searching
authority, amendments to the international application, and Chapter
II international preliminary examination. In addition to these options
and events, there are numerous safeguard procedures available to help
you when things go wrong. These safeguards will be discussed in detail
in Chapter 5.
