While government interference can be vexing, the end result can be (surprise!) a good thing. Three years ago, the Consumer Product Commission deemed that children's sleepwear had to change--either it had to be flame retardent or it had to be form-fitting. In other words, baggy, comfy PJs were verboten by order of the Feds. Consequently, kids' sleepwear was either stiff as a board from the application of the flame-resistant solution or uncomfortably skin-tight since no air could be between the garment and the skin. Ouch!

Happily for kids (and adults), L'Agneau D'Or, Housatonic, Mass., has come up with a CPC-approved application that leaves its preshrunk, 100% interlock cotton pajamas and nightgowns soft and cuddly.

We opted for its "blue snowflake" pattern boy's PJs...
