Wes Thompson has been named vice president of IHC Mission Services. He will oversee healthy community initiatives, volunteer work, IHC's assistance for the underserved and charitable donations to community health agencies from the IHC Foundation. Most recently, Thompson served as administrator of Aita View Hospital and as an operating officer in IHC's Urban Central Region. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah.

Bremer Public Relations Inc. has hired Laura Murphy as senior PR counselor. In this position, Murphy serves several new accounts. Before joining Bremer, Murphy was the marketing director at Park City Mountain Resort for three years where she managed all integrated marketing activities, including public relations, advertising and overseeing the tales department. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Boston University and a Master of Business Administration from New York University.

Nick Mamalis, M.D., professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the University of Utah's Moran Eye Center, has been named an associate editor for the Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. in addition to his work on the journal, Mamalis will maintain his faculty appointment at the Moran Eye Center, where he serves as the director of the center's Ophthalmic Pathology Laboratory. Mamalis is responsible for reviewing and editing papers about surgical techniques, including cataract removal and LASIK.

IKANO Communications has appoleted Tom Naylor as director of client relations management. Naylor is responsible for managing all client relationships and assisting partners through IKANO's set-up process. Naylor has a background in account management and project implementation, handling accounts for many Fortune 500 companies. He has held positions in organizations including Novel/WordPerfect Corporation, Critical Path and Core Inc. Prior to joining IKANO, Naylor served as account manager at Critical Path/DotOne Corporation.
