Piquniq Management Corp. of Anchorage signed a $16.8 million contract with the U.S. Navy to provide parts support for its landing craft, air cushion vehicles. The high-speed, ship-to-shore, long-distance amphibious vehicles are used to transport weapons, cargo and personnel.

PMC and its subcontractor, Textron Marine Systems of New Orleans, announced plans to build and operate a warehouse and office facility in Panama City, Fla. PMC expects to staff the warehouse with three full-time employees and provide support services from its Anchorage office.

The U.S. Coast Guard also awarded PMC a contract worth more than $9 million to PMC to manage its support center on Kodiak Island. The contract is the largest of its kind ever awarded by the West Coast division of the Coast Guard, according to Dusty Kaser, PMC's manager of business development. Under the one-year renewable agreement, PMC provides all facility management, planning, labor, supplies, equipment and related services.
