In 2001, Allegro Multimedia CEO Chris Salter came up with a concept--initially named Piano Commando--for a video game that would teach kids music while they played it by hitting keys at the right time.

Soon the moniker became the "much better" Piano Wizard, said Salter, and things started to take off. The company relocated to Boulder County from Florida in 2005, then signed a licensing deal with Fisher-Price in 2006 that led to a pair of popular toys, I Can Play Piano and I Can Play Guitar. Allegro's flagship Piano Wizard product provides addictive, educational fun for kids and wannabe rock 'n' rollers alike.
