When we think of phone scams, we often assume the elderly are the most-vulnerable potential victims. However, data shows that millennials are at a greater risk of suffering financial loss from these ploys.

Phone scams have evolved over the years, explains cybersecurity specialist and DeleteMe cofounder Rob Shavell. The first wave of these types of scams were simple calls to landlines soliciting money for a fake cause or organization. In the last three years, however, the percentage of scam calls to mobile phones has jumped from 3.7% to nearly 45%.
