The Pentagon is sitting on more than half a century of acquisition data, but doesn't have the analytical tools to do anything with it, a staffer on the Senate Armed Services Committee said.

Arun Seraphin said the science and technology community can help.

"The Pentagon is sitting on 50 or 70 or however many years of interesting acquisition data," Seraphin said during a breakfast talk at NDIA. "It doesn't even have good ways of gathering that data from industry or from its own people without making everyone's life miserable."
