Paul Czisny appointed as Fond du Lac County circuit court judge.

Paul Czisny is the newest Fond du Lac County circuit court judge.

Gov. Tony Evers announced Czisny's appointment on Wednesday morning. He replaces Judge Robert Writz, who is retiring on May 2.

Czisny now runs his own law firm, specializing in criminal defense and representing parents in Children's Court. Before that, he was a State Public Defender for more than 20 years.

In a statemen, Wirtz said he was happy that Evers had appointed Czisny as his successor and called him "eminently qualified and experienced."

Evers also pointed to Czisney's experience and knowledge of the criminal-justice system. He said Czisney will bring compassion, fairness and a deep knowledge of the law to the bench.
