TEI has a strong history of advocating on a range of tax matters with the Department of Finance and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This advocacy role is an important element of TEI's role in the tax community. The partnership between TEI and the Canadian Income Tax Committee (CITC) plays a large role in advancing this advocacy.

The Toronto Chapter Income Tax Committee provides an important forum for sharing views and perspectives on income tax issues at a chapter level. It liaises with government officials on matters pertaining to the administration of the Ontario income taxation system. The chapter also provides input to the CITC with respect to its annual liaison meetings and its submissions to the federal and provincial governments. This input is on matters pertaining to income tax policy and recommendations for changes in policy and administrative matters.
