Determining the proper value, or total aggregate damages, is one of the most important objectives of a class action. Calculating a sum that fairly and reasonably represents the collective claims for the class is often an essential factor in maintaining the viability of the action.

A fluid verdict is a verdict wherein damages are calculated and awarded in the aggregate and individual claims are satisfied from the fund created.48
