CLARKSVILLE

Greentree Inn-Best Western, 1425 Broadway, 47130; 812/288-9281, 800/528-1234. A 107-guest room hotel, just off Interstate 65 at U.S. 31, it features an outdoor pool and a free movie channel. Restaurants are within walking distance. Rates: $38-$42 single; $43-$47 double.

Howard Johnson, 342 Eastern Blvd., 47129; 812/282-7511, 800/654-2000. This 161-room hotel has been totally refurbished. It has an outdoor pool and a restaurant. Regular rates: $35 single; $41 double.

Lakeview Hotel and Resort, 505 Marriott Dr., 47129; 812/283-4411. Formerly the Quality Inn Lakeview, this 357-room property is next door to the Derby Dinner Playhouse and is situated by a lake. Amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, a restaurant and lounge, discounts to Wave-Tech next door, putt-putt golf, tennis, and fishing in the lake. Rates: $49 single; $54 double.

CORYDON

Best Western-Old Capitol Inn, Indiana 135, P.O. Box 124, 47112; 812/738-4192, 800/528-1234. Standiford Field Airport in Louisville is only 31 miles southeast of this 77-guest room inn, which also is close to area caves and antiques and craft shops. There is an outdoor pool, a restaurant and lounge on the premises. Rates: $36-$42 single; $41-$50 double.

Budgetel Inn, 2495 Landmark Ave.; 812/738-1500, 800/428-3438. This 80-room hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants and shopping centers, and also is near several golf courses and a pool. Historic downtown Corydon is about a mile and a half away, and the Hoosier National Forest is a short drive away. A suite with king-size bed, queen-size sofa sleeper, microwave oven and refrigerator is available. Pets are welcome at no extra charge. Regular rates: $29.95-$42.95 single; $36.95-$49.95 double. Children under 18 stay free.

Kintner House Inn, Capitol and Chestnut, 47112; 812/738-2020. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Kintner House is a B&B that provides a full breakfast for guests. It is located in the heart of Corydon, close to the Old Corydon Historic Site, shopping and restaurants. There are 15 guest rooms, each with a private bath, and two apartments. Rates: $49-$89 weekends; $39-$69 weeknights.
