Few of us can forget -- or escape -- the words of wisdom freely dispensed by our mothers, as the following interviews with Utah professionals reveal.

In fact, one is actually making a living teaching others the very lessons she learned from mom years ago.

Kathy Wood Loveless, president of Loveless Enterprises, a management consulting firm, has advised everyone from corporate executives to high-ranking government and military officials in the United States and abroad. On the surface, her goal is to help people implement high-level management strategies and techniques; but in fact, she says, it's all about treating others with respect, and that goes back to what she learned from her mother's example. "My mother taught me the golden rule and she practiced what she preached."

Rick Cagen, CEO of LDS Hospital, often reflects on his mother's mellow, calm nature when faced with the frequent and stressful challenges of running a large hospital. "In a word, she taught me to have patience." (No pun intended.)
