Unidad Cubana publicly reaffirms the position it has been stating since its foundation on July 12, 1991, at Miami's Dade County Auditorium, when nearly all of the organizations and umbrella groups of Cuban exiles agreed that the only solution to the Cuban crisis was to face up to and overthrow the Castro regime.

Therefore, in view of the confusion that some of the exile organizations have created by changing this stand, Unidad Cubana, made up of dozens of organizations, reaffirms:

1) That in Cuba nothing has changed to justify trying to alter or change the policy on which Unidad Cubana labored along with other organizations and with our Congressmen in Washington, D.C., for the passing of the Helms-Burton Act.

2) That Unidad Cubana expresses that, in essence, nothing has changed in Cuba after the Pope's visit, even though some of those who seek an "understanding" with the Communist tyranny claim otherwise in order to weaken the U.S. embargo and create a false notion about the nature of the Castro regime.

3) That we continue to wholeheartedly support our Members of Congress, Ilenna Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, and Bob Menendez, whom we consider our voices in Washington, D.C., and to whom, therefore, we offer all the cooperation they need and is within our means to continue their patriotic struggle.

4) That we do not accept a solution based on the so-called "socialist laws" whereby those who are responsible for the destruction inflicted upon Cuba would be allowed to remain in power.

5) That Unidad Cubana, as an umbrella organization consisting of many member groups, respects their respective points of view as long as none of these is based on a dialog or detente with the tyranny.

6) That, just as we shall continue to help the dissident groups and the independent press, as well as those patriots who are aging war on the regime inside Cuba, we shall also continue to mobilize internationally to denounce those who would take over the resources stolen from Cuban and foreign citizens.
