I tried teaching about our system of justice in my high school government classes via mock trials and by showing various cases that Frontline covered several years ago. Many of the outcomes were similar to the Avery and Dassey case. Those prosecuted were usually victims of a poor education and lack finances for proper representation. What I tried to emphasize was that when our system fails and we send an innocent person to jail, we also allow the guilty to continue committing crimes.
