Road work: officials hope to roll out the recovery on highway projects being paid for with $735 million in federal stimulus money.

Eastern North Carolina landed the biggest highway stimulus project in the state, $64.3 million for a road linking the North Carolina Global TransPark to U.S. 70. The biggest project in the west, a widening of U.S. 421 in Boone, fetched just $14.4 million.
