6 Alaska Vision, 50 Years of Alaska Art

Surrounded by the Anchorage Museum's Alaska landscape paintings, landscape artist Kesler Woodward discusses Alaska art since statehood, how that art has influenced Alaska and vice versa. He asserts that, in Alaska, art serves not only as decoration and personal expression, but also as a venue for Alaskans to explore who they are and their relationship to the land. Also In this talk, Woodward employs slides of rarely seen images from the museum collection. The new monthly Artist's Eye Lecture Series features informal, artist-led gallery discussions about works of art in the Anchorage Museum's collection. Lecture begins at 7 pm. 9-25 The Courtship of Zack and Ada

World premiere by Shane Mitchell, presented by Cyrano's Theatre Co. The players include both proponents and opponents in the quest for statehood. Romance also blossoms in this vibrant period of Alaska's history. A multi-medial collaboration with AMIPA enhances this production with real footage from the period.
