Expert’s Qualifications

Expert’s qualifications or bias may be subject to a pretrial hearing. Although § 490.065.2, RSMo Supp. 2021, does not specifically require the trial court to hold a hearing on the expert, a party could request a hearing for the judge to make “an assessment of whether the underlying reasoning or methodology of the expected expert testimony is scientifically valid and can properly be applied to the facts at issue.” Mo.
