After a self-imposed "blackout" since I began this job in December, I would like to offer this first report to you.

Two words come to mind: amazing and thanks.

As a HSBA member for over 30 years I believe I was like most of you. I paid my dues, read the Hawaii Bar Journal when I had the time, and volunteered periodically when asked. Now that I am on the "inside" I have a very different perspective of the HSBA. It's not only a mandatory part of being an attorney in Hawaii, it's a vibrant and dynamic organization with a core of generous member volunteers and a small staff of individuals dedicated to the HSBA as an institution.

The first month in the HSBA office was stressful as expected with any significant life change. Lyn Flanigan stayed on for a month for transitional purposes despite her wanting to be in Los Angeles with her new grandchild.
