Lumen, the dating app for singles over age 50, conducted a study among its users and found that 20% admit to feeling lonely at least a few times a week. The most-frequently cited causes are not working anymore (35%), being single (28%), and children leaving home (23%). The most-popular places/ways to meet new people are getting out of the house more (14%), going to pubs and coffee shops (10%), starting new hobbies (nine percent), and meeting new people through existing friends (eight percent).

TrueCar Inc. reports average auto transaction prices to be up 1.3% or $460 from a year ago and up 0.4% or $152 since October. "Not only are consumers preferring SUVs, which are typically more expensive than their sedan counterparts, they're choosing not to skimp on in-vehicle features and content, a positive indicator of consumer confidence in the economy. Automaker revenue is coming in strong as well, up 2.2% year-over-year, another signal that the automotive industry remains healthy," says Oliver Strauss, chief economist at True-Car.

While casual dress codes are gaining ground in the workplace, job applicants should not put away their power suits just yet, according to research from global staffing firm Accountemps, Menlo Park, Calif. In a survey of senior managers, 37% of respondents indicate that candidates always should wear a formal suit when interviewing for a job. Some 36% feel proper interview attire depends on the position or department at the company. Almost all respondents agree how someone dresses for the job interview is significant: 52% report it is very important, and 42% say it is at least somewhat important.
