Notes to tables
e present notes to the statistical tables are both general and not notes to the items carrying an asterisk (). In
several of the time series, there are sometimes revisions to the previous month’s data. ese are not footnoted.
A number of countries do not publish monthly gures, or publish them only aer long delays. Consequently year
averages are used in s everal of the se ries for many of the monthly gures shown, or, in the cur rent calendar year,
estimatesbasedonthepreviousyear.
Source of the data onthe UK in tables 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 is Energy Trends, adapted and reproduced withper mission
of the Controller of HMSO.

Gas Discoveries
Discontinued.
Table3 : Estimated Number of Rigs Active
Rigs active means rigs making new holes and
workovers. Figures for Kuwait and Saudi Arabia
exclude the Neutral Zone.
Table 4: WorldCr ude and NGLs Production
Includes crude oil, eld/lease condensate, and
natural gas liquids produced from NGL plants.
OPEC countries started to produce monthly
gures from November 1994; earlier gures
are estimates based on press reports and other
sources.
Data for Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was
revised creating a discontinuity in the series
from January 2014 (Vol 39 Iss 1).

Table7: Net Electricity Production
In March 1994 this table was revised to give
gures in terms of net generation for all

ity with electric ity series published in OET
before March 1994; Japan:public utilities only;
Brazil: excludes industry generation for own
use; Venezuela: nationalgrid only.
e data seriesfor Pakistan in table 7d was sub-
stantially revised in September 2012 (Vol 37
Issue 9).
Data for Other Europe for the period October
2011 to September 2012 (Vol. 37 Iss.2-12) has
been revised f rom Vol. 38 Iss 1.
Data for Venezuela was revised in September
2015, creating a discontinuity with the series
before January 2013.
Table 8: Production from Reneries
From Vol.37 Iss. 4 Aviation Fuel and Kerosene
appear as one col umn.
Retrospective changes have been made to
gures in this table previously using formulas
where new data isavailable.
