This chapter relates to the acknowledgment of documents by officials. officials who are authorized to take acknowledgments are listed in the Uniform Acknowledgments Act, as adopted by the state of Arkansas, found at Ark. Code Ann. § 16-47-202 (within the state), § 16-47-203 (within the United States) and § 16-47-204 (outside the United States). In Arkansas, a judge or clerk of a court of record, a recorder of deeds, a notary public, or a justice of the peace are authorized to take acknowledgments under this statute. An older, unrepealed statute on the subject is Ark. Code Ann. § 16-47-103. Related statutes are Ark. Code Ann. § 16-47-213 (persons in the armed forces), § 16-47-104 (attestation before United States courts or officials), and Ark. Code Ann. §§ 18-12-201 et seq. (acknowledgments and proof of instruments for the conveyance of real estate).
