Welcome to the Volume 34, No. 2, issue of the Quarterly. By the time you read this note, it will be September 2021. Given all that has happened in the last year and a half, that is a hard thought to come to terms with—that 2021 is coming to an end and 2022 will soon be upon us. It's a cliché that time flies, but this year feels like it really has.

Soon also—on October 26, 2021—will be the California State Bar Workers' Compensation Legal Specialization examination, administered by the Board of Legal Specialization. Your workers' compensation Executive Committee once again took the lead to prepare the next class of test takers with its biannual Legal Specialization Boot Camp, presented this year via a series of webinars on July 31st and August 1st. The Executive Committee, and specifically the education subcommittee, led by the Hon. Sharon Velzy, worked tirelessly to bring those aspiring certified specialists the best content, speakers, and test preparation possible. I had the opportunity and privilege to moderate and present on one of the topics, "Medical Knowledge and Issues," alongside noted AME Dr. Steven Feinberg and applicant's attorney Jody Kaufman, of Stout & Kaufman. The presentation covered medical terminology, UR, and the QME process. My moderating this topic was ironic; medical terminology was the area I did the worst in when I took the Certified Specialist examination. But, as I always say, I learn from my mistakes.
