Note from the Editor

Your Workers' Compensation Section Executive Committee welcomes you to the Vol. 33, No. 1, issue of the Quarterly. We certainly hope this message finds you well in these difficult times.

When I wrote to the 3,000 members of the section in the previous issue of this publication, I predicted a year of change for 2020. That was certainly an understatement. Over the past several months we've witnessed radical change brought on by the COVID-19 crisis. Even though many of the changes wrought are temporary, we can all expect lasting impact on our lives, not least in our practice of workers' compensation law.

We need not chronicle here all the challenges we've endured in our practices. We are all familiar with them by now. Moreover, it seems to be an ever-evolving situation, with new obstacles to overcome daily. Yet here, as a practitioner alongside you, I want to offer my sincere belief that we can all look forward with hope that what we've collectively experienced will have a silver lining at the end of the day. In particular, the experiences we've gained through adopting a virtual working platform at the Board, in our places of employment, and in the medical evaluations within our system will allow for a more resilient and flexible workers' compensation system and community in the future.

Your volunteer-staffed Executive Committee has worked in the last several months to maintain its services to the membership despite all the challenges. Although our robust spring educational seminars had to be rescheduled, we've maintained many of our core services, including our publications, such as the monthly E-news and, of course, the Quarterly.
