As mayor of Spring Lake, I cannot sit idly and allow the defamation of my town pass. In the cover story of your June issue, you not only delivered misinformation but blatantly insulted Spring Lake. As mayor, I am offended; as a resident, I am disturbed; as a reader, I am disappointed. The lake for which the town is named is not huge, but I assure you, it is no polluted puddle. Your article states that the population is "about 13,200." According to the state demographer, the official population is 9,564. If you include the annexation of what was Pope Air Force Base (now Pope Army Airfield), the total population is...
