Kirby Schroeder's article "Hard Corps" (October) dangerously refuses to place blame where blame belongs in rape cases. Schroeder does not blame Cadet "Garcia" for raping a fellow cadet, writing: "I am certain he thought he had not done anything unusual ... I can imagine [Garcia] deeply confused as they escorted him away from committing a sexual assault."

Instead of blaming the individual, Schroeder places blame on the entire male population of Norwich. I called a good friend of mine at Norwich to find out if males "teach each other by example it is okay to approach an unconscious ... woman and attempt to have sex with her," as Schroeder claims.
