Northern Air Cargo adds 737-200s to its cargo fleet.

Northern Air Cargo, the state's largest all-cargo air carrier, has started service using its first two converted Boeing 737-200 freighter aircraft. The company plans to add another similar aircraft pending Federal Aviation Administration approval. The aircraft previously served as Delta Air Lines passenger aircraft and were converted for cargo service.

Company officials expect the new planes, which join the DC-6 fleet, will improve frequency, reliability and affordable service to rural Alaska.
