For the third consecutive spring, the North Carolina Golf Panel is proud to partner with BUSINESS NORTH CAROLINA to publish the rankings of the best courses in what members believe is the best state for golf. The panel is made up of about 150 media members, club professionals and general managers, golf-industry executives, notable amateurs and business leaders. This year, we tweaked our system for determining the top 100 courses. Rather than simply totaling the points for each, we averaged the totals based on the number of panelists who voted for a course. In rough terms, it's more about quality and less about quantity. We also--in response to reader feedback--slightly revised the boundaries in the regional rankings.
