The flag of the Republic of Korea. Adopted as the flag of the waning Chosun Dynasty in 1883, it continues to evoke pride in the race even among those who question the Legitimacy of the South Korean state.

The state emblem of the Republic of Korea shows the flag's yin-yang symbol surrounded by petals of the national flower, the Rose of Sharon. Like the state flag it communicates no values distinct from the race itself.
