"Increasing noninterest income is the most direct and quickest route to improving profitability," said John M. Floyd to the recent meeting of the National Conference for Community Bankers. Banks can increase profitability more quickly with noninterest income than they can with sales and service improvements, expense reduction and account acquisition, he said.
