The challenging economy does not seem to have derailed the entrepreneurial ambitions of American workers, according to a survey by the University of Phoenix (Ariz.). More than half of working adults in the U.S. either own their own business or hope to do so in the future, relates Sam Sanders, chair of the School of Business.

Key findings include:

* 41% of Americans who do not own their own business hope to do so in the future.

* 55% of workers in their 20s who do not own a business hope to do so in the future, followed by 48% in their 30s, 36% in their 40s, 39% in their 50s, and 26% aged 60 and older.

* 78% of workers believe they are--or would make--a great boss. This jumps up to 91% when you look at managers, directors, and corporate level employees.
