U.S. counties where Donald Trump garnered at least 70 percent of the vote in November 2020 had a COVID-19 death rate of forty-seven out of every 100,000 people, a recent tally showed. This is compared to just ten deaths per 100,000 people in counties where Trump drew less than 32 percent of the vote.

Representative Louie Gohmert, Republican of Texas, has sounded an alarm about the danger of solar energy farms envisioned in federal infrastructure spending, saying they involve "thousands of acres of concave mirrors that magnify the sun," causing passing birds to "explode in flame," spraying "bird guts all over the mirrors."

Color Her World

Lauren Pefferle, an elementary special education assistant in Newberg, Oregon, protested the state's vaccine mandate for educators by darkening her face with iodine and proclaiming she was like Rosa Parks. "I feel segregated because I am unvaccinated," she explained. The school district fired her.

A Mass Murder By Any Other Name

General Mark Milley, chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pronounced in August that a U.S. drone strike that killed ten Afghan civilians, including seven children, was "righteous," because it had also eliminated a "facilitator" of a prior Islamic State bombing. He later acknowledged that there were no valid targets, calling the strike "a horrible tragedy."
