PositionClub Resorts Inc. hosts golfing championship at Pinehurst Hotel & Country Club

For the first time since 1981, Pinehurst's famed No. 2 golf course will be No. 1 in the golfing world -- at least for four days.

From Oct. 31 to Nov. 3, the course will host America's greatest golfers as they play the PGA Tour Championship at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club.

Luring the $2 million event took some fancy footwork by Club Resorts Inc., a Dallas-based company that bought the Pinehurst club in 1984. Organizers emphasized Pinehurst's golf heritage to land the tournament, which was previously played at Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Pebble Beach, Calif.
